Bean Box Coffee Subscription Review *Holiday Gift Guide 2016*

What I've been waiting for has finally arrived, winter! Well, on and off. We are bouncing between days with highs in the low to mid 50s and lows in the low to mid 20s, to some days with highs of 65 or so and lows near 50. I'll take it, as it helps me slowly transition to the point of being comfortable with the cold air. To help with these freezing mornings - and chilly days, I found a great way to cope.

During my Holiday Gift Guide, I have introduced you to the holy grail of kitchen appliances, the Ninja Coffee Bar. If you tune in this coming Saturday (11/26) you'll see our review on the Magic Bullet, and I'm linking to these and letting you in on this information because these are all great additions to have with the Bean Box Coffee Subscription.

These here are the coffee bean samples I received in my box. You can personalized your box for samples according to your taste preference and such, but if you're like me - samples give you the opportunity to try anything - even the things you don't think you would like. The great thing is if you find one that you must have, you can order a 12 oz. bag of those beans. These are fresh beans - and when you open the box, the aroma hits your nose and you can tell that it's all fresh. My box had a variety of light to dark roast beans. Just a little hint - if you like a strong aroma with a nice mellow taste - Slate Coffee Roasters cream and sugar beans will make your home smell like you just walked into Starbucks. It's so great, and the taste is fantastic. I brewed mine in my Ninja Coffee Bar, which has options for rich brew. I find that best for in the morning as it makes any coffee nice and strong so I can be good and awake for my day. If you drink coffee often throughout the day, you brew this on classic brew and it'll be nice and mellow.

Since these are beans, you'll need a way of grinding them. The Magic Bullet has a specialty for grinding coffee beans. I gave it a whirl, and I must say within a few seconds with it locked down, so it's constantly grinding, they were nice and ground up to fine specifics - made perfect for your coffee pot. As you can see, the bags also have the date the beans were roasted so you know just how fresh they are.

You could always ground the whole bag up at once and pour it back so that it's already ground up when you're ready for it. I do prefer to grind up just enough for what I'm making so that I get that delicious, totally fresh pot every time. That and the flavors are contained in each bean for later.

As you can see from the last picture, each bag has a description of where your beans came from, and the notes of flavor in the beans.

Also, just in time for the holidays, they have Holiday Blends. Bring out the holiday spirit with some holiday inspired blends of coffee beans.

Like this blend of Velton's Coffee Roasting Company, with a blend of chocolate, toffee, and currant - this is one I'd love to try. I think this could really get me in the holiday spirit, and you too!

This would make a fantastic gift for the coffee addict - if you know their kind of flavors, coffee wise, then you could order them a bag of something new, but semi-familiar in taste for them to enjoy. If not, you could surprise them with a subscription of their sample bags which will allow them the chance to taste something new and maybe find their new favorite blend!

You can get a monthly subscription of Sampler, all blends included for just $17/month. That is beyond affordable! I have tried very few subscription boxes, some I found to be not worth paying for - but this one is definitely worth your spare funds a month!

  1. I had no idea that you could use a Magic Bullet to grind beans! We love getting Bean Box in the mail and we write tasting notes on the back of each little bag--it's been lots of fun having a subscription.
